From humble beginnings Planet Lighting has grown to become the product of choice for some of the worlds best architects and designers.
W.A Iggulden founded Planet in the early 1900s to produce tools. It was tough times in those days and the company barely survived the great depression. In the late 1930s, Bill Iggulden (son of the founder) designed one of the world's first self-balancing table lamps, the Orbit. This was the start of a new direction for planet and was soon followed by the 'I' Series desk light.
At this stage, Iggulden was considered a world expert in task lighting, and he went on to win the inaugural Prince Philip Design Prize. Flush with success, Iggulden came up with the Studio K lamp. It was exhibited around the world to great acclaim and almost 50 years later, it's still going strong.
