Jan Ekselius 'Etcetera' Chair
The 'Etcetra' is a rare pop era masterpiece from Swedish designer Jan Ekselius.
On it's release at the 1970 Stockholm furniture fair the 'etcetera' became an instant design icon. The lavish silhouette, defined by it's almost impossible hairpin curves, made other furniture seem rigid and uptight in comparison. Furniture maker JOC Carlsson ordered 500 chairs to be produced in time for the fair; by event close the complete production had been sold.
Jan Ekselius later told those who asked him that he had tried to capture a piece of nature's own design. His inspiration was in the way nature can be manifested in the branches of a tree, in the waves of the ocean or the sand hills of a beach. We think we he got it just right.
The Etcetera chair was produced from 1970 to 1979.
