Webbs Auction | 7 August

We are excited to unveil our second collection for auction with Webb's Auction House.

Over the past few months, in collaboration with New Zealand's premier auction house, we have been curating a selection of exciting and collectable pieces of mid century furniture from Europe and around New Zealand. A considered selection of long line sideboards, elegant desks, designer armchairs and rare objects will be presented for auction representing designers and makers such as Charles and Ray Eames, Ib Kofod Larsen for G-Plan, John Crichton and Herman Miller. Auctions are a lot of fun and we're sure the event will be a great night out, with the chance to own a unique piece of design history. One of our favourite pieces is the low-line sideboard by Gunni Omann, designed in Denmark for Axel Christensen. This original Danish design has sparked enthusiasm for the Scandinavian take on modernist furniture across Europe. This design trend also extended to New Zealand, influencing popular makers such as Backhouse and Don Furniture. As a cabinet maker and designer, Omann has taken extreme care with every detail in this piece, from the recessed drawer handles, to the tapered legs which are gently incorporated into the base structure, to the arrow-head handles on the cupboards. You'll love this sideboard as much as we do if you get the chance you view it in person. To bring you this auction, Mr. Bigglesworthy is proud to team up with Webb's Auction House. Webb's is a talented group of individuals with a huge range of design knowledge and experience under their belt. Modern Design Auction Manager Josh Williams has worked in auction houses and museums all over the world and has handled the best pieces of furniture and objects that history has to offer. See you at Webb's Auction House on Tuesday 7 August at 6pm. View the catalogue online or in person at 18 Manukau Road, Epsom, Auckland Saturday 4 August 11am - 3pm Sunday 5 August 11am - 3pm Monday 6 August 9am - 5:30pm Tuesday 7 August 9am - 12noon
