Precious Metals - Winter 2014 Lookbook

You might already know our fervour for precious metals. It seems like we're not alone in our passion for all things shiny and beautiful either.

We're loving the current nod to 1960s and 70s glamour interiors. It was a time when designers were fascinated by futuristic ideas. With the development of new technology and space travel, it offered a new landscape of possibilities. Eero Saarinen's tulip chair for Knoll (and it's memorable advertising) highlighted freeform shapes and suggested a new way forward for the living environment. This idea was also a feature of films like 2001: A Space Odyssey, by Stanley Kubrick. Furniture designs by Oliver Morgue were biomorphic, unusual forms that challenged conventions. Here are some of the places and spaces that have caught our eye lately, bringing you some inspiration for Winter. It wouldn't be right if we didn't mention the huge influence that English designer Tom Dixon has had in pushing the metal envelope. His elegant, intelligent work in lighting and homewares seem to grace the pages of every interiors magazine. 1 / The Sugar Club, Peter Gordon's restaurant in Auckland 2 / Catherine Martin Wallpaper for Mokum / Greta von Nessen Lamp 3 / Warren Platner, The American Restaurant, Kansas City, 1974 / Kent Coffey 'Tableau' Drawers 4 / Gold styled interior / Curtis Jere Willow Branch Wall Sculpture 5 / G-Plan Tola and Black Librenza Shelf Detail 6 / Zinc Textiles 'Surround' Wallpaper Collection 7 / 'Night Slate' by Calico Wallpaper / 1970s Twin Head Lamp 8 / Bolaget Apartments / Milo Baughman Style Armchairs 9 / Stylist Jessica Hanson and shot by photographer Sam McAdam-Cooper for October 2013 issue of Inside Out Magazine / Rivoli Cushion with Italian fabric by Mokum 10 / Stylist Jessica Hanson and shot by photographer Sam McAdam-Cooper for October 2013 issue of Inside Out Magazine / Pair of EJ 900 Erik Jorgensen Cobra Chairs 11 / Barcelona apartment designed and styled by Katty Schiebeck / Planet Floor Standing Spotlight 12 / Interior by Julie Hillman / Old Hall 'Super Avon' Set Planet Floor Standing Spotlight 13 / Marc Newson 'Lockheed' Lounger / Designer Jean-Louis Deniot's Paris apartment 14 / Pieff 'Alpha' Leather Sofa
