Description

The Taschen Decorative Art series is an edited reprint of the iconic Decorative Art, the Studio Yearbook, which was originally published annually from 1906 until 1980. It was one of the first publications to promote good design and highlight the latest international trends. Before the age of the internet this was a highly coveted reference for Architects, Designers and Retailers throughout the world.

The Decorative Art series follows the layout of the original publication and is divided into chapters that cover the best of architecture, interior design, furniture, textiles, wallpaper, glassware, lighting, silver, and ceramics. It is illustrated with hundreds of photographs, and in some cases floor plans and elevations for buildings are included as well.

This inspiring book provides a good overview of architectural and design direction throughout the decade and is also a handy reference book as each design is attributed to the maker and designer. The work of New Zealand's own John Crichton is featured, which is a well earned inclusion.
