Ettore Sottsass 'Pilastro' Stool for Kartell
The revered leader of the Memphis movement pairs up beautifully with Kartell.
This playful Pilastro stool is part of the "Kartell goes Sottsass – A Tribute to Memphis" collection. Kartell's vision has thrown Sottsass and Memphis together again in a carnival of pattern and colour. 8 design objects created by Ettore Sottsass in 2004 have finally been put into production for the very first time.
This collaboration with Sottsass is unusual not only on an exquisitely formal and artistic level, but also in regard to the scope of the project. Ettore Sottsass was a pivotal figure of the late 20th century Italian design scene. Best known as the founder of the early 1980s Memphis collective, he also designed iconic products for Olivetti, as well as beautiful glass and ceramics.
