Description
This collaboration with significant contemporary artist Richard Killeen continues his direction and interest in the multiplicity of imagery relating to social issues, history, archeology, science and nature.
Killeen was educated at the Elam School of Fine Arts, where his lecturers included Colin McCahon. Since graduating in 1966, Killeen has won a number of high profile awards and has been the subject of several major exhibitions. He is particularly famous for his arranged collections of aluminium 'cut outs' hung on walls, from 1978 onwards. A major retrospective of Killeen's work, Stories We Tell Ourselves, The Paintings of Richard Killeen, was organised by the Auckland Art Gallery in 1999.
Dilana has been hand crafting New Zealand's most luxurious rugs for over 35 years. Since opening their Christchurch based Workshop in 1980, the company has successfully collaborated with many leading contemporary artists. The Dilana legacy can be seen in some of the most distinguished homes, commercial buildings, art galleries and museums throughout the world.
