ercol 'Originals' 425 Saddle Stool
Impeccably crafted design from British maker Ercol.
Designed in the 1950’s by the company’s founder, Lucian Ercolani, this piece is as appropriate to today’s living as when it was originally issued. Turned out tapered legs, characteristic of the ercol style feature on this stool as well as a perfectly moulded wooden seat. The legs are made from beech and the seat from elm.
A distinctive feature of Ercol furniture is the dedication to quality craftsmanship. This can be seen through the use of the classic Windsor wedge joint. This is where the leg of the chair goes right through the seat and a wedge is then inserted into a cut in the leg, forming a remarkably strong joint. Sanded off flush with the seat, the joint then provides a beautiful design element.
