Description

Some of New Zealand's most premium modern furniture was designed and produced by Wellington based firm Backhouse. This stunning teak sideboard is no exception. While most Backhouse designs reference the work of prominent Danish designers, this stark linear offering seems more aligned to the utilitarian simplicity of Dutch designer Cees Braakman.

Stripped of all unnecessary embellishment, this sideboard consists of a lean teak cabinet with luminous grain raised on a refined six point base. Where this piece really shines is in the details that are not initially apparent, opening the drawers reveals intricate curved plywood construction.

This is a memorable piece from a firm committed to pushing the boundaries of contemporary design in New Zealand. It will stand out and add character to any modern interior.
