Description

This striking pulled-lobe vase was designed by Emmanuel Beranek for Karlovarske Sklo glassworks in 1959. It combines organic form with a weighty presence that takes on different aspects and shapes as it revolves and catches the light. This stunning offering represents post-war Czech hand blown glass at its very best and is a must for the serious collector.

Karlovarske Sklo dates back to 1857 when Ludwig Moser opened a small studio in Karlsbad, Bohemia. It quickly became famous for its exquisite engraved and enamelled designs, as well as its high quality soda-potash glass, which rivalled lead crystal. The original company was nationalized in 1948, and from 1950 became known as Karlovarske Sklo National Corporation.
