During the 1950's the groundbreaking furniture store Jon Jansen was paving the way for contemporary design in New Zealand. To ensure a reputation at the cutting edge, the store stocked a range of international pieces from some of the most progressive furniture makers and designers.
This offering from Swedish maker Ostrom is a rare and coveted design. There is an example in the permanent collection of Te Papa museum highlighting the transition to modern design in the 1950s. With its refined organic curves and elegant lightness of form this stunning armchair was coveted by style conscious New Zealanders.
Materials: Beautifully crafted from beech moulded plywood and webbing upholstery
Wood Finish: This chair has been professionally restored previously and is in very good condition. An additional slat was added to the front legs during that restoration.
