Description

Ercol furniture draws its cues from the modernist movement of the 20th century combined with the simple, honest aesthetic of traditional British countryside furniture. Innovative joinery, clean organic forms and the use of blonde woods such as elm, set Ercol's designs apart from other contemporary mid century makers.

During the 1950's the company's founder, Lucian Ercolani, was at the peak of his career as a furniture designer. Ercolani created some of the most iconic British furniture of the era, many of which have become timeless icons today. The designs are celebrated for their soft, sculptural curves and ground-breaking use of bentwood. In 1964, Lucian was awarded an OBE (Officer of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) for his notable contributions to British design and manufacturing.

This sideboard from the Windsor range captures all the features that have made Ercol furniture so coveted. It has a very elegant and tactile form made entirely of solid timber. The premium craftsmanship can easily be seen in the dovetail joinery of the main cabinet and drawers. A removable cutlery drawer with adjustable partitions is a cute addition and the height adaptable shelves make a very functional offering.
