Celebrated British designer Rodney Kinsman studied at the Central School of Art. On graduating in 1965, Kinsman launched his own furniture design company to market and sell his work. OMK stands for Olejnik, Morrison and Kinsman, names of the founding partners of the firm. Under the direction of Kinsman, OMK (formerly known as OMK Associates) quickly became one of the leading lights of British high end furniture and the brand's legacy has only increased in popularity over time.

Kinsman's designs were known for their high standards of craftsmanship and were guaranteed to stand the test of time. He worked with quality materials such as chrome steel and premium leather, to create fashionable furniture for premium retail stores. OMK designed and manufactured much of the furniture sold through Terence Conran's Habitat stores in the 1960's and 70's.

As OMK evolved Kinsman became fascinated by the complex process of high-tech mass production. The company focused its design direction on creating durable and ground-breaking public seating. Since heading in this direction OMK has broken into the international market, furnishing airports, train stations, design houses and expos in over thirty countries.

In 2017 OMK celebrated its design heritage by re-issuing some of the most iconic products from its extensive back catalogue.
