Deluxe 'Model 21' Longline Sideboard by Omann Jun
Danish furniture maker Omann Jun MA¸belfabrik was founded by Andreas Omann in 1933. The family owned company is responsible for crafting some of the most coveted Scandinavian furniture of the mid 20th century and continues this legacy today. From the 1950s to 70s the company produced many of its now iconic designs, elegant highly refined timber furniture with sharp detailing and premium construction.
The stunning 'Model 21' sideboard is a linear, decidedly minimalist offering of generous proportions. The design showcases the company's ability to create premium furniture that that is simple yet highly refined and desirable. What really elevates this piece is how the vibrant Brazilian rosewood has been given centre stage, the bold flame like grain in rich tobacco hues will definitely turn heads.
A combination of solid and veneered Rosewood crafted to a very high standard. Top refinished, presents very well.

Revered Danish furniture factory, Omann Jun was founded in 1933 by Andreas Omann in Ølholm, Denmark. Andreas came from a family of cabinet makers, his father Niels Omann had founded Ølholm Mobelfabrik in 1892 and it became one of the region’s most important business.
By the 1930’s Ølholm Mobelfabrik was being run by Niels Omann’s two sons Andreas and Sigfred Omann. Andreas decided it was time to start his own factory which he named Omann Jun. short for Omann Junior. It initially shared the same head office and carpentry machines with Ølholm Mobelfabrik.
Sigfred Omann (the younger brother) took over the management of Ølholm Furniture Factory when Niels Omann passed away in 1935. The two furniture factories became of great importance to the city and the railway. They could fill two freight cars with furniture every day.
Andreas Omann initially focused Omann Jun on the production of bedroom furniture and dining tables. By the 1950’s the company had expanded and his two sons Gunni and Bjarne were part of the management team. They expanded the offering to include sideboards, coffee tables, desks and office suites.
The mid-20th century is considered the golden era of Omann Jun. Many of the company's most coveted pieces were designed inhouse during this time and crafted to the highest standard in teak and palisander rosewood. Sales also expanded internationally which led to Gunni becoming sales representative for the US market and Bjarne covering the European market.
Iconic designs such as the Model 18 sideboard and Model 75 desk have become highly sought after. These pieces perfectly capture the Scandinavian design aesthetic with their clean lines, refined elegance, lightness of form and organic detailing. Many of Omann Jun's most deluxe pieces are crafted from rich Rosewood timber with a highly figured grain.
Advertising from the 1960’s gives the design attribution to Gunni Omann but each of the three family members (Andreas, Gunni and Bjarne) were involved across the production and design process of every item. Omann Jun considers the designs a collaborative effort and not attributable to any one person.
In 1969 Andreas Omann took over Ølholm Møbelfabrik and integrated it into Omann Jun. Management of the company was passed over to Bjarne Omann in 1979 when he inherited the company from his father. During his time Bjarne focused the company on exclusive furnishings for professional offices.
In 2005, Ulrich Omann, third-generation family member, took the reins from his father. Today the company concentrates on the production of contemporary contract furniture but has also re-issued some of the classic design icons from the mid-century era.
