Elegant John Herbert 'Volnay' Sideboard by Younger
Younger Furniture satisfied the taste of discerning buyers during the 1950s, 60s and 70s. The company offered sophisticated, high-quality ranges of furniture that were always at the cutting edge of contemporary design. This memorable 'Volnay' sideboard from 1956 was designed by the talented John Herbert, it was very progressive and remained in production for a decade.
Younger designs were often named after an iconic wine or spirit. The 'Volnay' takes its name from the French wine produced in the commune of Volnay in Côte de Beaune of Burgundy. This beautifully crafted sideboard shares many features with its namesake – it’s a light, elegant and refined offering with a smooth structure!
A combination of solid and veneered Afromosia crafted to a very high standard.
