Josef Albers (1888-1976) is considered one of the most influential abstract painters of the twentieth century, as well as an important designer and educator. Albers was a prominent figure in the Bauhaus movement and designed his iconic Nesting Tables in 1926. These tables were created for the Moellenhoff-Haus in Berlin during his tenure as the artistic director of the furniture workshop at the Bauhaus.
The Nesting Tables are celebrated for their geometric simplicity and vibrant colours, reflecting Albers' background in painting. The set consists of four tables, each with a different colour and size, designed to fit seamlessly together or be used independently. Crafted from solid oak with lacquered glass tops, these tables exemplify the Bauhaus principles of combining form and functionality.
This design is licensed to MoMA by the Josef & Anni Albers Foundation and produced by a family company in Germany.
Each piece is checked and carefully hand restored at our Kingsland studio workshop. Our focus is preserving the character and patina of the design while ensuring it displays beautifully in a contemporary interior.
