Playful Yrjo Kukkapuro 'Experiment Series' Chair by Avarte
Celebrated Finnish designer Yrjö Kukkapuro is known for his sculptural and highly functional furniture designs. His most famous chair, the Karuselli, released in 1964, was hailed the most comfortable chair in the world by The New York Times and is still in production today.
This chair is a rare and collectable design from 1982 named ‘The Experiment Chair’. With this design, Kukkapuro sought to add art to Functionalism, to satisfy romantic tastes alongside meeting essential needs. The result is a divisive yet coveted post-modern icon.
Each piece is checked and carefully hand restored at our Kingsland studio workshop. Our focus is preserving the character and patina of the design while ensuring it displays beautifully in a contemporary interior.
