Rare Modernist 'TV-T' Stacking Side Tables by Gerald Summers
Gerald Summers is one of the most important British modernist designers of the 1930s, particularly notable for his innovative single piece plywood chair of 1934. Together with his wife Marjorie Butcher, Summers founded the firm 'Makers of Simple Furniture' and helped reshape the domestic British interior.
These sleek, utilitarian 'TV-T' side tables are an exceptionally rare find. Makers of Simple Furniture closed due to WW2 as plywood became impossible to source. Summers produced a very little work post war. This 1953 design features an enameled aluminium top in British Racing Green, complimented with a circular inset of Red Sycamore. Three tapered legs provide support for a unique late-period example of Gerald Summers memorable work.
Price is for the pair of stools.
