Six Sculptural 'Miller' Dining Chairs by Danske Mobler
This set of six mahogany dining chairs from the coveted 'Miller' range are almost too stylish to be hidden beneath a table. New Zealand furniture maker Danske Mobler has exemplified simple, organic Scandinavian style in these gorgeous pieces.
Every detail is has been considered in the construction of these chairs, from the single curved back-strut in solid mahogany to the subtle tapered legs. Designs from the Miller range are today the most rare and coveted pieces from Danske Mobler. They feature highly a progressive Danish aesthetic and showcase many hand finished organic features that required a high level of skill to produce.
Each piece is checked and carefully hand restored at our Kingsland studio workshop. Our focus is preserving the character and patina of the design while ensuring it displays beautifully in a contemporary interior.

After WWII New Zealand was fortunate to receive two Danish migrants with a solid background in furniture. It was perfect timing because New Zealand had just introduced a host of import restrictions putting massive tariffs on any internationally made furniture.
Six short years after setting up shop, thousands of style conscious kiwis had taken home their own piece of Scandinavian design. Danske Mobler was a hit. The business expanded further into manufacturing and international sales.
During the 1960s and 70s, the popular furniture store sold a range of household furnishings including lounge, dining, bedroom and outdoor options. It stocked in-house designs based on Scandinavian classics and also locally produced brands like DON and Jon Jansen.
Danske Mobler is still operating today across New Zealand under new generations of the Winter family.
