Six Kai Kristiansen 'Compass' Chairs for Schou Andersen
Kai Kristiansen has perfected sculptural elegance with this set of dining chairs.
Kai Kristiansen's 'Compass' Dining Chair for Danish maker VSA (Villy Schou Andersen) has become an icon of progressive mid century Scandinavian design. These beautiful chairs feature generous cuts of vibrant teak in a memorable compass form that references the technical drawing instrument the name is derived from.
While a number of compass influenced chairs were produced during the mid-century era, the Kai Kristiansen version is one of the most coveted. The highly organic, elegantly simple form is very comfortable and visually appealing. The peak of the compass legs are raised up to become perfectly functional armrests.
