Peter Hvidt Coffee Table by Arthur Golding
This rare and perfectly sculpted side table originally designed by Peter Hvidt is a uniquely New Zealand interpretation of Danish modernism.
This superb coffee table is crafted from Kauri, offering a local take on a piece from one of Denmark's preeminent mid-century designers. It showcases the elegance of Danish design and has been crafted in New Zealand to a world class standard. It's not often we encounter anything like this.
A solid kauri table top with subtle brass detailing elevates it from the slender frame below. Hand shaped laterals and bow-tie supports round out this stunning table.

Materials: Beautifully crafted from solid kauri
Wood Finish: Table has been professionally refinished
Construction: Joints are sturdy and solid. All checked and ready to go
Provenance: We have purchased this coffee table from the original owner's daughter. "My father was a cabinet maker named Arthur Golding. He has passed away, but was a very talented guy who trained in cabinet making at Scoullers in Wellington. All of his pieces were one offs, this particular piece was made to flat pack down as he relocated to Auckland from Wellington. He recycled kauri from Kildcaldie and Stains cosmetic counters, as it was being thrown away. He was a very talented carver who made church pulpits and then went on to do gunsmithing (making and carving gun stocks)".
