Mid-Century Modern Radiata Pine Desk
A beautifully designed desk in pine.
In the early 1950s progressive architects and designers experimented with new timbers and simple forms that would distinguish their work from the dark, heavy set furniture of prior generations. Radiata Pine was one of the first timbers to be embraced in this search for a truly modern material for the forward focused New Zealander.
This early mid-century Radiata Pine desk is a fascinating example of the modern furniture produced locally in the 1950s. It's interesting to note that Rimu has been used for the drawer interiors and internal construction and Pine is the show-wood out on display.
We love this cute, highly functional and beautifully crafted desk. From the elegant proportions of the desktop to the handy drawers and splayed legs, every detail shines.
